Indian Basketball Finishes Up Busy Weekend

It was a busy weekend for the Stephens County High School basketball teams.

First on Friday, Stephens County traveled to Seneca, S.C. for a varsity double header.

In the girls’ game, Seneca took control early, led by Anne LeRoy’s 10 point first period, to cruise to a 52-27 win over the Lady Indians.

LiLi Walker led the Lady Indians with six points and Treasure Lone had five points.

In the boys’ game Friday, Seneca pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 55-40 win over the Indians.

Deundre Singleton led the Indians in scoring with 17 points, 15 of which came in the second half.

Montavious Thorton followed Singleton’s effort, adding 9 points.

Then on Saturday night, the Stephens County Indians took on The Habersham Central Raiders in The Battle for Currahee Mountain at the Currahee Arena in Toccoa.

In the girls’ game, Stephens County lost to Habersham, 57-37.

The girls’ game was tied 29-29 late in the third quarter, but Habersham Central imposed the full-court press for the entire fourth quarter to help pull away for the win.

Juniors Anaiah Wilson and Tykia Thompson led the way for the Lady Indians with 9 points each. The Lady Indians remain winless at 0-5.

Moving to boys’ action on Saturday, the Indians won 65-46.

De’Undre Singleton, Nunu Walker, and Ty Nails each scored 11 points in the effort.
The Indians improve their record to 2-1.
Tuesday night, Stephens County travels to Hart County with girls’ varsity action starting at 6 pm. Airtime on WNEG Radio will be approximately 5:45.
