Indian Wrestling Sends Five to Sectionals

Five Stephens County High School wrestlers will move on to the State Sectional tournament this coming weekend, while a sixth Indian will be an alternate.

This past weekend, the Indian wrestling team traveled to Chestatee High School for the Region 8-AAAA traditional tournament.

Wrestlers who place in the top four of their respective weight classes at region qualify for the state sectional tournament, while those who finish fifth qualify as alternates in case a qualifier becomes sick or injured.

The five Indians who qualified for sectionals are Javon Jones, who finished second place at 126 pounds; Corey Kindel, who finished third place at 132 pounds; Jake Murray, who finished third place at 138 pounds; Jay Stowe, who finished third place at 145 pounds; and Dylan Defoor, who finished fourth place at 170 pounds.

Dalton Roberts, who finished fifth place at 152 pounds, is an alternate.

The sectionals are this coming Friday at West Laurens High School in Dublin.
