Indians Baseball Team Playing in State Playoffs Today

The Stephens County Indians will be on the road today with a trip to Tunnel Hill, Georgia to face Northwest Whitfield in the opening round of the Class AAAA state playoffs. The Indians are the number four seed from Region-8 but Coach Greg McCall said this team can make some waves.

“Bottom line is I think we are a very dangerous baseball team. We hit the ball, throw strikes, we are just happy to be in the playoffs and try to make an impact,” said McCall.

The Indians enter the playoffs with a 17-13 overall record and face a Northwest Whitfield team ranked #6 in the state in the AJC Poll. Northwest Whitfield finished the regular season at 20-8 and is the number one seed from Region 6.

McCall said this Stephens County team has worked hard to be in this position.

“Our kids work hard. We are in early hitting at 6 a.m.- 7 a.m. three days a week. They work hard and deserve everything they got,” said McCall.
