Indians Beat Jefferson

The Stephens County Indian baseball team managed to salvage the final game of its three-game series with Jefferson by beating the Dragons, 7-1, Friday night at the Reservation.

Sophomore Davis Swenson tossed a four-hitter at the Dragons, giving up just one run, a solo home run to catcher Lane Watkins in the top of the fourth inning.

Swenson is now 4-0 on the season. On Friday night, he struck out six and walked two.

The Indians got off to a great start, sending 10 men to the plate, aided by four walks from Jefferson starting pitcher Logan Garner.

Stephens County scored two more runs in the third inning and another in the fourth inning.

Cole Beitzel had two RBI’s in the game, while Bryson Fowler, Dawson Dean, Davis Swenson, and Dylan Huff each knocked in a run.

The Indians are now 12-9 overall and 2-4 in region play, while Jefferson is now 13-6 overall and 4-2 in the region.

The Indians begin a three-game series with Madison County today in Danielsville.
