Indians Face N. Oconee in Football Tonight

The Stephens County Indian football team will try to clinch a home football playoff game with a win tonight.

Stephens County heads on the road tonight to face North Oconee in a big Region 8-AAAA contest.

Last week, the Indians wrapped up one of the four playoff spots out of the region with a 39-13 win over Madison County.

The Indians are 7-1 overall on the year and tied with Buford at the top of the region standings with an unbeaten 5-0 record.

Meanwhile, North Oconee saw its two-game winning streak snapped last week, falling 56-7 to Buford.

The Titans enter tonight’s game in fourth place in the region with a 3-2 record and a 4-4 overall record this season.

Stephens County JV Football Coach Greg McCall said that he expects a tough game tonight between two good football teams.

“I think defensively they fly around the football very well and they have a couple of playmakers on offense, so I think it will be a very competitive game,” said McCall.

Kick-off from North Oconee High School is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on AM 630 WNEG with the Indian Road Show.

Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and pre-game coverage from North Oconee gets underway at 7:15 p.m.

In other Region 8-AAAA action tonight, Buford visits Madison County, North Hall hosts Chestatee, and White County will host Monroe Area.
