Indians Fall in Atlanta

Austin Branson limited the Stephens County Indians to just two hits and one run, and Wesley Diamantis had two doubles including one that scored the go ahead run in the 5th inning to lead St. Pius to a 2-1 victory over the Stephens County Indians in a huge Region 8- AAAA game on Monday night.

The Indians only hits and only run came in the 3rd inning when Austin Page singled, was sacrificed to second by Dylan Huff, and scored on Kole Rogers two-out single.

St. Pius tied the game in the 4th inning when Diamantis doubled and scored from third on Justin Doychak’s ground ball out.

Branson got the complete game win allowing one run and two hits while striking out seven and walking just two. Chaz Bridges pitched well, but got the loss allowing two runs on two hits, striking out four, and walking six. Davis Swenson pitched two innings allowing one hit and picking up a strikeout.
The loss drops the Indians to a game behind St. Pius in the standings for the 4th spot in the Region with two games to go. The Indians will face the Golden Lions again on Wednesday (Senior Night) in a must-win game for Stephens County at the Reservation.
