Indians Shut Out Monroe Area

Sophomore right-hander Zack Boyd tossed a one-hitter Wednesday as the Stephens County Indian baseball team blanked the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes in five innings, 10-0, at the Reservation in Region 8-AAAA baseball play.

Boyd struck out six and allowed just one fly ball out on the mound.

He also had three hits at the plate and drove in a run.

Stephens County batted around in the first inning, scoring four runs.

They scored two runs in the bottom of the second and batted around again in the third, scoring four more runs.

Dylan Simpson had a couple of RBIs for the Indians, while Jacob Haddock and Dylan Huff each also drove in a run, along with Boyd.

The Indians are now 10-13 overall and 6-7 in region play.

Monroe Area drops to 7-16 overall and 2-11 in the region.

The second game between these two teams is Friday at Monroe Area at 5:55 p.m.
