Indians Split At Rabun in Basketball
Stephens County split a pair of varsity high school basketball games with Rabun County Tuesday night in Tiger.
Rabun County’s girls defeated Stephens County, 74-28. But in boys’ action, Stephens County prevailed, 83-64.
In the boys’ game, the Indians grabbed the early lead and held a slim 36-29 halftime advantage.
However, Stephens County had a good third period holding Rabun County to 13 points while scoring 24 and cruised to victory.
De’Undre Singleton led the Indian boys with 23 points; NuNu Walker scored 17 points, 14 coming in the second half; and Montavious Thornton had 14.
Rabun County’s Tevan Dixon led all scorers with 26 points, including 6 three-pointers.
The Indians improve to 5-2 on the season, while Rabun County dropped to 5-4.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Indians fell behind early 23-7 at the end of the first period and could never recover.
Tykia Thompson led the Lady Indians with 17 points.
The Lady Indians dropped to 0-8 on the season. Rabun County, one of the top teams in Class AA, improved to 8-1.
Stephens County will open Region 8-AAAA play Friday night as they travel down to Atlanta to play St. Pius.
