Ionosphere Celebrates Anniversary, New Location

A local travel agency celebrates an anniversary and a new location.

On Thursday, the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Ionosphere Travel in downtown Toccoa to celebrate 45 years in business and also to commemorate its new location on Doyle Street.

Manager Ron Matheson said that the business started back in 1971 and he has been involved with it for 38 of those years, having been owner at one point before now becoming manager.

“We recently sold to good friends, Rick and Letha Phillips, who were a perfect owner to come in,” said Matheson. “We have done business with them for years so it was a perfect fit. We moved to this beautiful location at the corner of Sage and Doyle streets. We are at 12 Doyle Street.”

Matheson said that Ionosphere Travel can handle all of a person’s travel needs.

“From airline tickets and Amtrak tickets, cruises, land vacations, all-inclusives, honeymoons, group travel,” said Matheson.
