Jarrell Issues Counterfeit Bill Warning

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell is asking area retailers to be on the lookout for counterfeit bills this holiday season.

Jarrell said that the Toccoa Police Department has been receiving several counterfeit bills in denominations of $5 and $20.

He said the police department is asking everyone to check money they receive, especially restaurants who deliver.

According to Jarrell, most of the bills can be inspected to find the numbers match on all the bills and printing is not lined with the paper’s corners.

Also, Jarrell said there is no security strip inside the bills.
