Lavonia Officer Honored for life saving heroics.

In Monday Night’s meeting of the Lavonia City Council, Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle honored Lt. Scott Stowe with the Lavonia PD Life Saving Medal.

Stowe was given the award for his actions while on patrol on March 10 of this year said Carlisle during his presentation.

“Upon your arrival, you immediate recognized that the male was in serious distress, based on your training, knowledge, and experience, you directed that an automated external defibrillator be applied to the victim,” said Carlisle. “After the shock was administered you followed the directions and began CPR.”

EMS later confirmed that Stowe’s actions saved the victim’s life.

“The day after the incident, I received information from emergency medical personnel that your actions most definitely saved the life of the gentleman,” said Carlisle.

Carlisle commended Lt. Stowe for his actions and then presented the Officer with the medal.

“I now present you with the Lavonia Police Department Life Saving Medal, to be worn on your uniform for all to know of your great accomplishment,” said Carlisle.

The Mayor and Council thanked Stowe for his actions on behalf of the City.
