Lions Club Wins Festival of Trees

The Toccoa Main Street program announces the winner of this year’s Festival of Trees.

Monday, the Main Street program announced that the Toccoa Lions Club tree received the most $1 votes and took home the $500 grand prize.

Toccoa Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that the Lions Club was a well-deserving winner.

“The Lions Club had a beautiful tree,” said Crosby. “It was white with and it had purple decorations, as well as lions.

This year’s Festival of Trees took place from November 30 through December 7 in the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

During the Festival of Trees, various organizations decorate Christmas trees and people vote for their favorite tree by donating $1 votes to that particular tree. Each charity gets the dollars raised through the votes for their particular tree.

The Toccoa Main Street program also announced the winner of the city’s Gingerbread House contest, which took place on November 30 and December 1, at Monday’s city commission meeting.

The city recognized Elijah and Isaiah Smith as the winners of that contest this year.
