Little League State 10-11 BB Tourney Wrapping Up in Toccoa

A state champion could be crowned as early as tonight in the state 10 and 11-year-old Little League baseball tournament taking place in Toccoa.

The tournament’s championship round gets underway this evening at the Doyle Street Park.

Squaring off for the state championship are Northern Little League from Columbus and Oconee County Little League.

Northern is undefeated in the tournament, having won its first three games in the winner’s bracket.

Meanwhile, Oconee County fought its way through the elimination bracket, defeating Cartersville Thursday, 5-2, to move into the championship game.

These two teams have already played once in the tournament.

In that game, Northern beat Oconee County, 3-1.

Oconee County must beat Northern twice to win the state title, while Northern only needs to win one game.

Tonight’s game starts at 7 p.m. at the Doyle Street Park in Toccoa.

If Oconee County wins tonight’s game, the two teams would play again in a winner-take-all game on Saturday at noon, also at the Doyle Street Park.

Meanwhile, Toccoa Little League says there will be fireworks following tonight’s game at Doyle Street.
