Local EMT’s Participating in EMS Education Conference

Local EMT’s will want to take advantage of a free EMS Education Conference coming up this week in Athens.

Sponsored by St. Mary’s Health Care System, the spring EMS Education Conference will be held Wednesday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital, in  Athens.

The program will provide continuing education that is immediately useful for paramedics, emergency medical technicians and first responders in the field. 

St. Mary’s spokesman Mark Ralston said up to five continuing education credits (CEUs) will be available. 

John Sartain, Paramedic and St. Mary’s EMS Liaison tells WNEG News being an EMT is a demanding job where every minute matters. 

Sartain said the conference provides practical, real-world information that can help EMS personnel provide safe, high-quality care in high-stress situations.

Topics Wedensday include, Message in a Bottle: Neuro-Transmitters And Psychiatric Medicines, Autism Spectrum Disorders And Public Safety Personnel, Care For The Acute Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury Patient, Crisis Intervention, and Stemi Mimics And Stemi Case Review.

Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided, with on-site check-in opening at 8:30 a.m.
