Local Group Organizing Hurricane Relief Effort

A local ministry organization is putting together help to send to the people of South Carolina and North Carolina affected by Hurricane Matthew.

Steve Paysen’s P230 Foundation is headed to the Nichols, South Carolina area on Monday, October 24.

This area, on the South Carolina-North Carolina border near the coast, has been devastated by flooding.

Paysen said he knows pastors in that area and they have called asking for assistance for the people in that community.

“There are hundreds of families, thousands of people, that have lost everything,” said Paysen. “They asked us to come in and the basic needs need to be brought in first. That is water, canned foods. They want the easy-open cans. Our ministry has partnered with Quality Foods and Richard at Quality Foods has helped us. We are going to load up a trailer of food, purchase it from him. We need clothes, blankets, towels.”

Paysen said they will be set up in the Quality Foods parking lot in Toccoa from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday to accept donations of clean clothes, blankets, sheets, and towels.

The P230 Foundation can also accept financial donations to go towards helping these storm victims.

According to Paysen, people can drop those financial donations off at Quality Foods on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. or mail them to P230 Foundation, P.O. Box 327, Toccoa, Georgia, 30577.

He said all donations are tax-deductible.

“If they would designate that money for South Carolina disaster relief and every dime we take up on this effort will go there,” said Paysen.

Paysen said he appreciates the support of Toccoa and Stephens County in this effort.

“I am a very proud citizen of Toccoa and people have been great in helping others,” said Paysen. “I look forward to seeing what we are going to do to help these people.”

Again, donations will be taken on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Quality Foods parking lot on Big A Road in Toccoa.
