Man Arrested for Child Pornography in Clarkesville

A Habersham County man faces multiple charges in connection to a child pornography investigation.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said that agents with its Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, along with the Clarkesville Police Department and the Habersham County District Attorney’s Office executed a search warrant on Wednesday at an Oak Hill Lane residence in Clarkesville.

Authorities said the address was the residence of 75-year-old David Newcomer.

GBI officials said that as a result of this search warrant and an ongoing investigation, Newcomer was arrested and charged with three counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

According to the GBI, the investigation was initiated in April when the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the illegal online sharing of child pornography.
Newcomer is being held at the Habersham County Jail.
