Margaret Ayers Award Winners Announced

The annual winners of a community award in Lavonia are announced.

Earlier this month, Randy and Gwen Moore were named as the recipients of the thirteenth annual Margaret Ayers Award for Civic Health in Lavonia.

The award is presented by the Lavonia Clinic and the Northeast Georgia Regional Medical Associates.

It honors a community member for volunteerism, exceptional character, dignified leadership, appreciation of the community’s history and credit to the community.

Randy and Gwen Moore were nominated for their longtime involvement with the Franklin County Historical Society, the Lavonia Historic Preservation group, the Remarkable Women of Franklin County, Lavonia Presbyterian, Lavonia Women’s Club, Ty Cobb Museum and Land of Spirit.

In making the presentation, Lavonia Clinic Administrator David Cronic cited one nominator’s words, which called the Moores a tremendous blessing to Lavonia.

The award is named in honor of Lavonia’s former first lady and longtime banker, Margaret Ayers.

Cronic went on to say that they recognize those who make a difference and those who promote quality of life, adding that they understand each year, that the work of their honorees is redemptive.
