Morse Gives Update on City Projects

Work is underway on the expansion of sewer lines along the Toccoa By-pass.

That was the word Monday from Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse, who updated city commissioners on a host of projects.

Morse said that crews are making progress on much of the preliminary work.

“They have done some clearing of a route for the water and sewer lines,” said Morse. “They have done a few bores under the highway already. Hopefully soon, they will start laying the pipe.”

Elsewhere, Morse said a lot of progress is being made on projects within the city’s water department.

“The project at the water plant, the one to improve the filters, is complete,” said Morse. “Now, city staff are at the process of painting all the buildings up there.”

He also said Davidson Lake dredging is nearing completion.

“They probably have a few more weeks,” said Morse. “That project is fast nearing its end.”

Also, Morse said that work on a new burn building for the Toccoa Fire Department is well underway and it looks great.

According to Morse, the city hopes to start training there in a few months.

He added that the code enforcement officer is also continuing to work with city residents on code violations as a part of community beautification efforts.
