Municipal Qualifying Ends Today

Today is the final day of municipal qualifying for Toccoa and Martin.

In Toccoa, candidates wishing to qualify for one of the three seats up for election this year should see Toccoa City Clerk Fredda Wheeler at Toccoa City Hall.

The qualifying fee is $252.

For Martin, qualifying is at the Stephens County Probate and Registrar’s Office, located in Room 108 downstairs in the Stephens County Government Building in downtown Toccoa.

The qualifying fee for mayor is $120 and the qualifying fee for council member is $90.

The deadline to qualify for races in both municipalities is 4:30 p.m. today.

So far, only incumbents have now qualified for re-election to their posts in Toccoa and Martin.

David Austin qualified Wednesday to run for re-election to his Post 2 seat, Terry Carter qualified to run for re-election to his Post 1 seat and Gail Fry qualified to run for re-election to her Post 4 seat.

In Martin, Don Foster has qualified to run for re-election as Mayor, while Mark Gearhart and Harold Alexander have both qualified for re-election as council members in Martin.
