NE Ga. Rep. to Head State Transportation Board

A northeast Georgia woman will lead the State Transportation Board for the upcoming year.

Last Thursday, the State Transportation Board elected its executive leadership team.

Emily Dunn of Blue Ridge was named chairman.

Dunn represents Georgia’s 9th Congressional District on the State Transportation Board.

She is currently board vice chairman, chair of the Communications Committee, and serves on six other committees.

As Board chairman, she will serve as an ex officio member of all committees.

Dunn says she looks forward to leading the State Transportation Board as it judiciously moves transportation forward in Georgia with new funds that will result from the Transportation Funding Act of 2015.

She was elected to the State Transportation Board in 2011 to fill the remainder of an unexpired term and was re-elected to a five-year term in 2013.

Dunn is a business and civic leader, president of an amusement company and a registered nurse with a BSN from North Georgia College.

Dunn replaces Don Grantham of Augusta, who has served as chairman for one year.

Board elections are held annually ensuring representation of all regions of the state at the executive leadership level.

Also on Thursday, Robert L. Brown, Jr. of Decatur was named vice chairman and Jamie Boswell of Athens was named secretary.
