NGCU Breaks Ground on New Lavonia Branch Building

Construction is underway on a new building for the Lavonia branch of North Georgia Credit Union.

The groundbreaking took place earlier this month with North Georgia Credit Union’s board of directors and management.

N-G-C-U officials said that the new free-standing branch will be located across the street from the existing location in Suite 1 of the Lavonia South Business Center, which was established in 2005.

Officials said that the new 3,100 square foot branch will feature a full-service lobby, equipped with an ATM and a three-lane drive-thru with two-way video.

It is scheduled to open near the beginning of 2016.

North Georgia Credit Union selected Howe Construction, Inc. of Roswell to build the branch.

N-G-C-U President and CEO Brian Akin said that the Board of Directors and the entire staff share his excitement about this new opportunity as they expand to make their services more convenient and accessible for their members.

Akin added that the new space will position the credit union for continued, smart growth in the community as it will be able to attract and accommodate more new members.

With offices in Toccoa, Lavonia, and Hartwell, North Georgia Credit Union currently serves over 8,800 members.

Its membership is comprised of employees, retirees, and family members of 100 area companies, plus the residents of Stephens, Franklin, and Hart counties.
