The school announced that current North Georgia Technical College Director of Economic Development Tim Bennett will assume duties as the Currahee Campus Director beginning next month.

Current Currahee Campus Director Greg Roach is retiring at the end of the month after serving 20 years at North Georgia Tech, including the last seven years in charge of the Currahee Campus, which is located on Georgia Highway 17 in Stephens County between Toccoa and Lavonia.

Bennett began working at North Georgia Technical College in 2000 as an Industrial System Technology instructor on the school’s Blairsville campus.

After several years in the classroom, he moved to Economic Development where he served as the Director for Customized Training for Union, Towns, White, Fannin, Stephens, Franklin, Rabun and Habersham Counties.

Bennett’s first day at the Currahee Campus is January 3.

North Georgia Technical College President Dr. Mark Ivester said that he is excited for Bennett as his responsibilities expand to include management of the Currahee Campus activities.

Ivester said that during the past 15 years, Bennett has built very strong relationships with companies throughout the school’s eight-county service area.

He added the school knows Bennett will continue building those strong manufacturing relationships and work towards growing the school’s existing and new industry partnerships.
