NGTC Photography Students Win Awards

North Georgia Technical College photography students were top winners at the Georgia Professional Photographers Association state convention in September held at Jekyll Island.

Students Jordan Thomas received the Student Photographer of the Year Award and Frank Zayas earned second place in landscape.

Meanwhile, North Georgia Technical College Professional Lab Assistant Georgia Zumwalt won first place in commercial and portrait of a woman; the Dick Dickerson Award for most improved; the Kodak Gallery Award; second place in photojournalism; and four third places in photojournalism, abstract, fine art and commercial.

Also, North Georgia Tech instructors Jim Loring won first place in photojournalism and Jeff Gulle won first place for landscape, the Lexjet Sunset Award, the American Society of Photographers Award, the Certified Professional Photographers Award, and two second place awards for portrait of a man and commercial categories.

Gulle says the school stood very proud, adding that North Georgia Tech won most of the awards, and it was so rewarding to see current students and alumni have their skills and hard work not only recognized, but honored with high marks.
