No Charges Filed Against Man Who Wielded Sword at Ethicon

No charges were filed after police in one Habersham County town respond to an unusual incident in front of an area industry.

Cornelia Police officers responded to Ethicon’s front gate at about 11 a.m. Wednesday in response to concerns about a white male holding a sword and acting strangely.

According to Cornelia Police Chief Chad Smith, when officers arrived, they found a male subject holding the sword and commanded him to drop it.

Smith said that the man did drop it when given commands.

The chief says that a Habersham County medical unit was then called to the scene and the man was transported to the Habersham Medical Center Emergency Room for evaluation without any further incidents.

No one was injured.

Authorities did not release the identity of the individual.
