Police Arrest Three For Drug Charges

Three people face drug charges after a traffic stop in Toccoa last week.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell said it started when a police officer pulled over a 2002 Toyota Camry on Monday, March 7 at about 12:10 a.m. on Franklin Street for failing to use a turn signal.

“When Officer Cannon approached the vehicle to talk with the driver, he noticed a male passenger in the back seat,” said Jarrell. “When looking into the vehicle, he could see the barrel of a shotgun partially covered with some clothing items.”

Jarrell said that the officer then asked everyone to exit the vehicle.

According to the chief, the officer found two firearms inside the vehicle.

Jarrell went on to say that the officer than found suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia during a further search of the vehicle.

“During the course of his investigation, he also located a substantial amount of suspected methamphetamine and suspected marijuana,” said Jarrell. “Along with the weapons and the suspected drugs were other paraphernalia used in the sale, consumption, and distribution of narcotics.”

Jarrell says police arrested the driver of the vehicle, 33-year-old Andrea Michelle McIntyre of Toccoa and charged her with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Failure to Signal.

The chief says two passengers were also arrested.

44-year-old April Michelle Jordan of Eastanollee was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Related Objects.

Also, 38-year-old Michael James Maxwell of Summerville, Georgia was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
