Police Chief Reports Recent Arrests

In police news, Police Chief Tim Jarrell reports several arrests over the last few weeks.

Most recently, on May 21, officers responded to the area of Lovers Lane and East Tugalo Street in reference to shots fired.

Officers responded to the call and upon arrival, made contact with four individuals who reported that a white Chrysler being driven by Cody Yates, 17 of Toccoa, had discharged a firearm while in the roadway.

Upon further investigation, officers arrested Elijah Mosley, 17 of Toccoa, who was charged with discharging a firearm in public and Yates was also arrested and charged with fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer.

Jarrell reports that the shots stemmed from an argument between the individuals at Taco Bell.

Another arrest occurred on May 12 after officers with the Toccoa Police Department and Stephens County Sheriff’s Department went to the Toccoa Inn, Room 305 to serve an arrest warrant for Peter Joseph Minks.

Minks attempted to flee the hotel room out the back door but was apprehended by officers. Minks’ girlfriend, identified as Chelsea Adrionna Swift answered the door and led officers into the hotel room where they immediately observed two children sleeping on a foldout. Upon consent to search the room, Toccoa Police Department’s K-9 Team found crystal methamphetamine and drug related objects.

Minks was then arrested and charged with cruelty to children, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, obstructing or hindering law enforcement and possession and use of drug related objects. Swift was also arrested and charged with cruelty to children and obstructing or hindering law enforcement.

Lastly, on April 27, officers responded to the Eastanollee Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifting attempt.

Officers were advised that one of the suspects was running toward the Mexican restaurant and upon arrival, deputies had one suspect, identified as Lindsay Foster, in custody. She charged with criminal trespass, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and burglary. Upon further investigation, Delaine P. Hill was also arrested and charged with shoplifting.
