Pre-season Honors for Cleveland

The pre-season honors are flowing in for Stephens County senior offensive lineman Ben Cleveland.

Cleveland was named to this year’s Atlanta Journal Constitution Super 11 over the weekend.

According to the AJC, Cleveland is the first Super 11 player for Stephens County High School since James Singleton in 1990.

The University of Georgia commit is not the only area player on the Super 11 roster.

Joining Cleveland are Elbert County quarterback Mecole Hardman and Rabun County wide receiver/running back/defensive back Charlie Woerner.

Hardman and Woerner are their school’s first Super 11 selections ever.

Meanwhile, Cleveland is also on the Georgia High School Football Daily Preseason All-State AAAA team as an offensive lineman.

Cleveland is one of five Region 8-AAAA players to make the All-State Preseason team.

Also on that team is wide receiver Alfred King of Monroe Area, athlete Xavier Gantt of Buford, place kicker Brad Hurst of White County, and defensive lineman Shug Frazier of Buford.

Stephens County opens the 2015 regular season in football on August 28 against Franklin County, though the Indians have one more scrimmage, which is tomorrow night at home against Hart County.
