Preparations Underway for “Toast of Toccoa”

Main Street Toccoa is getting ready for a new downtown event.

The inaugural “Toast of Toccoa” will take place May 6 in downtown Toccoa.

According to Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby, “Toast of Toccoa” will combine the annual Currahee Artists’ Guild Spring Art Show with craft beer and wine tastings and more.

“We have five different wineries from our region that will be represented,” said Crosby. “People can come and sample the wine and then if they would like to purchase a bottle of wine, they will have to go down to the Star Theater. That is where the wineries will be selling their wine. We also will have three different breweries represented there. We will have entertainment and food from our local restaurants and eateries. It should be a fun event, different from our ‘Taste of Toccoa’ and yet I think we will still be able to have a good representation of what we have here in Toccoa.”

Crosby went on to say that the city is looking for volunteers to help keep the event running smoothly on May 6.

“Of course, any one of our events takes a number of our volunteers,” said Crosby. “For this one, we think about 25 to 30 volunteers will be needed. If they could contact our office, we will get them signed up for a time and their responsibilities. We have two or three different things that we will be asking them to do, so if they will just contact the office, we will let them know what is available.”
