Prosecutors Asking to Charge Teen Accused of Townville School Shooting As An Adult

Prosecutors in South Carolina are asking a judge to have the teen charged in Townville, South Carolina school shooting and the death of his father tried as an adult.

A motion has been filed by the Tenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office in South Carolina to have jurisdiction over 14-year-old Jesse Dewitt Osborne transferred from Family Court to the Court of General Sessions, and seeking to try Osborne as an adult for the two charges of Murder, three charges of Attempted Murder, and five charges of Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime he is currently facing.

The teen is charged with shooting his father at a home on Osborne Road in Anderson County, South Carolina on Wednesday, September 28, then going to Townville Elementary School, where he fatally wounded 6-year-old Jacob Hall and also injured two other students and a teacher.

Hall was laid to rest earlier this week.

A hearing date for the State’s motion will be set by the Family Court following an evaluation of Osborne by the Department of Juvenile Justice.
