Quota Hunt Application Deadline Nearing, Says DNR

People looking to participate in a deer quota hunt this fall need to take the time soon to fill out an online quota application.

That’s according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division.

The DNR says those applications must be received before midnight September 1.

Deer quota opportunities include hunts on wildlife management areas and state park lands, dog-deer hunting and adult/child hunting opportunities.

To apply, go to www.gohuntgeorgia.com/hunting/quota.

Applicants should be sure to keep their email address current in order to receive quota updates, confirmations and any notices about quota hunts.

Game Management Section Chief John Bowers says that there will be thousands of applications to participate in one of these hunts, but people certainly won’t get a chance if they don’t apply.

Bowers adds that the state has experienced an increase in deer quota hunt applications over the past several years and that trend is expected to continue.

For more information on the upcoming deer season, hunters can review the 2015-2016 Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations guide, available at www.georgiawildlife.com/hunting/regulations.
