Region 8-AAAA Cross Country Meet Today

indiansStephens County High School is wrapping up its cross country season.

Today is the Region 8-AAAA cross country meet for both the boys’ and girls’ teams.

Indians’ Cross Country Coach Chad Bridges says that both Stephens County cross-country teams are young and working every day to get better.

“We have one senior on the boys’ team, Jimmy Carter,” said Bridges. “On the girls’ side, Deanna Lewis, who has been a great runner for four years now, and Nicole Collier, are the only two seniors.”

Bridges says Lewis has won a number of meets already this season and is posting times that will put her in the running to qualify for the state AAAA girls’ cross-country meet.

As for the boys, Bridges says the region is very tough and the Indians are working hard to compete.

He says that Region 8-AAAA is one of the toughest in the state for both boys’ and girls’ cross-country.

“Five girls’ teams are in the top in the state in our region and six boys’ teams are in the top ten in the state,” he added.

Today’s Region 8-AAAA boys’ and girls’ cross-country meets are at Unicoi State Park in Helen.
