Representative Collins Praises Passage of VA Accountability Act

U.S. Representative Doug Collins is praising the House passage of the Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act.

The bill passed Tuesday with a 368-55 vote.

Collins, who voted in favor of the legislation, said the bill’s passage is a win for veterans.

He said veterans deserve outstanding service from the VA but too many egregious exceptions to this standard have come to light.

“The VA Accountability Act helps ensure that veterans receive the highest quality, efficient healthcare and access to these services by holding VA employees accountable for their actions,” said Collins. “This bill prioritizes veterans over politics, protects those who expose abuses in the VA system and highlights the faithful work that many VA employees are doing. It’s an honor to vote for this legislation and I want to thank our senator, Johnny Isakson and also Dr. Phil Roe in the House for their tireless work in bringing this bill to the floor. I look forward to its arrival on the president’s desk.”

The U.S. Senate passed the bill last month. It now goes to President Trump’s desk and the President has indicated he will sign it.
