Road Work Continuing on Rock Creek

Motorists using part of Rock Creek Road in Stephens County should again be aware of continuing road work today.

Monday, county road crews began some extensive work on Rock Creek Road, starting at East Silver Shoals Road and going for two miles heading back towards town.

Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers said that crews are doing some tar and gravel work on that section of the road.

“What they are doing is a single surface treatment for about 2.1 miles and they did, I believe I heard the last, that they did both lanes a little over a mile and put down some temporary striping,” said Ayers of the work that was completed on Monday.

Ayers said crews had a good day on Monday and plan to continue the work today.

She went on to say that as the county crews finish this work on Rock Creek over the next day or so, they will move to another county road after that.

“Then they will start actually paving in-house on Riverdale Road either Wednesday or Thursday or into next week or a mixture of both,” said Ayers. “We are doing all this work in-house right now.”

Again, road work will continue today on Rock Creek Road, starting at East Silver Shoals Road and going for two miles heading back towards town, so motorists should use caution in that area.
