SCDA Approves Granting Purchase Option

The Stephens County Development Authority gives a local industry the option to purchase an adjacent lot.

At its meeting earlier this month, the SCDA board approved a purchase option for Crown Resources for a 7.26-acre lot adjacent to its current location in the Hayestone-Brady Business Park on Hayes-Wilbanks Road, just off the old State Route 17.

Stephens County Development Authority Executive Director Tim Martin said the purchase price would be $15,000 per acre and Crown Resources will pay an earnest deposit of $100 per acre for a total of $726.

The land is currently part of the business park, which is owned by the Stephens County Development Authority.

According to Martin, Crown Resources will have the purchase option for one year and if they exercise the purchase option, the earnest deposit of $726 would be applied toward the total purchase price.

Crown Resources re-located to Stephens County from Greer, South Carolina in 2010.

On its website, the company said it manufactures geotextiles for civil engineering, environmental, and woven applications across North America at its Stephens County production facility.
