SCDA Board Votes To Reward Martin

The Stephens County Development Authority rewards its Executive Director after a strong Fiscal Year 2015-2016.

Last Thursday, the Development Authority board voted to award Tim Martin a one-time, $8,000 bonus for his efforts over the last 12 months.

Stephens County Development Authority Board Chair Brian Akin said that the board felt like Martin’s performance warranted it as the last year brought a run of successes for the county.

“Landing a couple of significant projects, seeing strong employment growth in the area, significant investments, new investments in the community and winning some significant awards and accolades with the ‘Deal of the Year’ award, good press in Georgia Trend and Site Selection magazine,” said Akin. “It goes without saying you cannot do all that without a great leader and Tim Martin was able to help lead us through all of that and help us make a significant impact for Toccoa-Stephens County over the last year and we felt like it was the right thing to do to recognize his efforts.”

Akin said that this bonus will not have a negative effect on the Development Authority’s end of year budget for Fiscal Year 2016.

He said this will be paid out of extra revenues that the SCDA has generated over the course of the year.

“The Development Authority is always able to generate additional revenue throughout the year through bond deals and such as that where we earn a percentage of fee-based income and we are able to end this year with a surplus even after payment of the bonus and we are glad we can do the right thing and honor Tim for a job well done,” said Akin.

The vote to award the bonus was a unanimous one by the Development Authority board.
