SCDA Starts 2017

The Stephens County Development Authority welcomes two new members for the upcoming year.

At its meeting last week, the Development Authority board welcomed both Toccoa Mayor Jeanette Jamieson and Stephens County Commission Chair Debbie Whitlock to the board for 2017.

Both the Mayor of Toccoa and Stephens County Board of Commissioners Chair hold permanent seats on the Development Authority and with Jamieson and Whitlock being chosen for those seats this year by their respective commissions, they will fill those for the Development Authority for the next 12 months.

Also last week, the Development Authority elected officers for 2017.

Appointed at-large Development Authority board member Brian Akin will continue to serve as Stephens County Development Authority Chairman.

Jamieson will serve as Vice Chair and Whitlock will serve as Secretary.

Appointed at-large member Chuck Wright will serve again as Treasurer and Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce Chair Stacy Miller will serve as Assistant Secretary.

Meanwhile, the Development Authority will continue to meet on the second Thursday of each month at 8 a.m. at the SCDA offices on Doyle Street in Toccoa.

The Development Authority will also hold a planning session after its February 9 meeting to look at its 2017 goals and priorities.
