Schedule Changed For This Week’s SCHS Soccer “Pink Games”

The Stephens County High School soccer programs are announcing a change in the schedule for this week’s annual “Pink Games.”

Indian Boys’ Soccer Head Coach Derek Demmler said the “Pink Games” are being re-scheduled for different times this week because of a conflict with another school activity.

“The change happened due to the Spring Band Trip,” said Demmler. “We have a lot of female players on the girls’ team who are going on the trip, so we did not have enough to field a team on that Friday so they moved the game to Wednesday. The girls’ varsity ‘Pink Game’ will be Wednesday at 5:30 against Hart County. The boys will play on Friday at 6 o’clock.”

The Indian boys’ soccer team will also be playing Hart County in its “Pink Game” on Friday.

Demmler said the “Pink Games” continue this year in what is becoming a tradition for Stephens County High School soccer.

“The ‘Pink Game’ is an older tradition for us,” said Demmler. “We wear special pink jerseys for that game and some of the proceeds from the gate go to the Relay for Life program.”

Admission is $5 for each night.

However, Demmler said any Recreation Department soccer player wearing their jersey or who comes with their coach and a roster will get in free with a paying adult.

He said that will give the younger soccer players in the community a chance to see the high school teams play.

This is the second game this year that the Stephens County High School soccer teams have played where gate proceeds benefited another group.

The first one went to the Wounded Warrior organization.

Demmler said they are hoping for a strong turnout for this week’s “Pink Games.”

“We did not have as many people as we were hoping for, but we did have a larger than normal turnout, which is good for us and we were just hoping we could get some more people to come out this week for the ‘Pink Games’ to benefit the Stephens County Relay for Life program,” said Demmler.

Again, the Stephens County Lady Indian soccer team will play its “Pink Game” on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against Hart County, while the Indian boys will play their “Pink Game” against Hart County on Friday at 6 p.m.

Both games will be at the Reservation in Toccoa.
