SCHS Basketball Spends Weekend on Road

The Stephens County Indian basketball team picks up a pair of weekend wins.

This past weekend, the Stephens County boys traveled on the road and picked up wins against both Madison County and Franklin County.

On Friday night, the Indians came out on top in a back and forth game with Madison County, prevailing 67-63.

Down three points in the fourth, two steals and fast break points from Malik Feaster propelled Stephens County to the win.

DeUndre Singleton scored 24 points on Friday and NuNu Walker added 14.

Then on Saturday, the Indians used a full-court press to tame the Franklin County Lions, 78-55.

Ty Nails scored 31 points for Stephens County while Singleton added 12 on Saturday.

Moving to girls’ action, the Stephens County Lady Indians picked up their second straight region win on Friday, beating Madison County, 55-46.

After leading at halftime, the Lady Indians trailed entering the fourth but hit their free throws to come from behind and get the win.

Tykia Thompson scored 20 points to lead the Lady Indians Friday and Erin Carter scored 15.

On Saturday, Franklin County beat the Lady Indians 67-21.

Kaitlyn Phillips scored six points to lead the Lady Indians Saturday, while Thompson scored four points.

For the season, the Lady Indians are 4-19 overall and 3-5 in Region 8-AAAA, while the Indian boys are 16-6 overall and 4-4 in the region.

The Indians and Lady Indians are back in action on Tuesday in a Region 8-AAAA game at home against North Oconee, starting with the varsity girls’ game at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game to follow.
