SCHS Basketball Wraps Up Non Region Play

Stephens County will enter the region portion of its schedule later this week after wrapping up non-region play over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Lady Indians and Indians traveled to Hartwell and both came away with losses against rival Hart County.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Indians fell victim to a big third quarter as Hart County won the girls’ game, 67-50.

The Lady Indians led by one point at the half, but the Lady Bulldogs outscored Stephens County 27-12 in the third quarter to take the lead for good.

Damiya Montgomery had 20 points to lead three Hart County players in double figures. Torrion Starks added 18 points of her own and Maeisha Teasley had 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Kentasia Trimier had 21 points to lead Stephens County, while Mya Cleveland scored 17 points.

With the loss, the Lady Indians fell to 5-11, while the Lady Bulldogs moved to 13-2 with the win.

In the boys’ game, Stephens County led 47-40 after three quarters, but Hart County outscored the Indians 28-11 in the fourth to win 68-58.

Cody Frye had 17 points to lead Hart County, while Trey Clark scored 16 points and D.J. Craft scored 12 points.

11 different Indians scored on the night, but only Deundra Singleton reached double figures with 11 points.

The Indians are now 12-4 on the year, while Hart County moves to 5-10.

Stephens County basketball is off now until Friday when they travel to face Chestatee in region play.
