SCHS Softball Splits Playoff Doubleheader

One game today will determine whether the Stephens County High School softball team will move on to this year’s state AAAA softball tournament.

On Tuesday, the Lady Indians split a doubleheader in the first round of the Region 8-AAAA tournament with North Oconee.

Stephens County won the first game of the best-of-three series on Tuesday, 4-3 in 8 innings.

Alanna Dunson had the game-winning hit with a walk-off single and McKenzie Rodgers got the win in relief after coming on in the fifth inning to pitch the rest of the game.

In Game Two, the Lady Indians lost to North Oconee, 4-2.

Rodgers pitched in the loss for Stephens County and at the plate, Emma Whitfield had an RBI single.

The best of three series is now tied at one game each.

Today’s deciding third game will be today at 5 p.m. at the Reservation in Toccoa.

Whoever wins today’s game will move on to the state tournament as one of the top four teams out of Region 8-AAAA and also will play Buford in this week’s region semi-finals.
