SCMS Football Team Wins Final Game of Season

A late touchdown propels the Stephens County Middle School football team to a win in its final game of the season.

Zach Feaster ran back a kick-off 65 yards for a touchdown with just 50 seconds left in the game Saturday night to send the Rebels to a 28-26 win over Elbert County in their regular season finale.

The Rebels trailed 12-8 at halftime as Feaster scored the lone touchdown for Stephens County in the first half on a four-yard run.

After Elbert extended the lead to 20-8, Rebel fullback Kegan Mealor scored on a four-yard run to cut the lead to 20-16, midway through the third quarter.

Then, the Rebels took the lead with five minutes to go in the game when Feaster scored his second touchdown of the night on a seven-yard run.

Elbert re-took the lead, 26-20, with just 1:12 left in the game before Feaster’s dramatic kick-off return to win the game.

Stephens County Middle School ends its football season with a record of 3-3.

Meanwhile, Gracie Lei Fowler, daughter of Daniel Fowler and Michele Bailey, was crowned Stephens County Middle School homecoming queen.
