Sheriff’s Dept. Locates City of Toccoa’s Stolen Tractor

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley reports that the City of Toccoa’s stolen tractor has been recovered.

According to Sheriff Shirley, the incident was originally reported on February 2, 2017 when City of Toccoa employees discovered a 1994 John Deere 410 d backhoe was stolen from a job site. Sheriff Shirley said during the initial investigation, deputies searched the area with no success.

According to Shirley, on May 9, 2017, investigators were contacted in reference to a possible lead in this case.

Investigators were advised that a group of hunters had located a backhoe on private property approximately four miles from the incident site. Upon arrival investigators searched the area on foot and located the backhoe. It was recovered and returned to the owners.
