Shirley Collecting Items for Florida Storm Victims

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said his office is collecting items to help some of those affected by Hurricane Matthew.

Shirley said that two of his friends, St. John’s County, Florida Sheriff David Shoar and St. Augustine, Florida Chief of Police Loran Lueders, lost their entire home and contents, as did so many other citizens in that area.

The sheriff is asking people to donate items that will be taken to St. Augustine, Florida by the end of the week to help citizens down there who need assistance.

According to Shirley, many homes and businesses in that area were flooded with water and many homes were completely destroyed, with water or sewer not having been restored as of Tuesday afternoon.

Among the items that the Sheriff’s Office is seeking people to donate include:

• Bottled Water
• Pop Tarts
• Kids’ Games
• Pillows and sheets
• Canned Food
• Gift Cards to Purchase Shoes and Clothing

Shirley said items could be dropped off at the Stephens County Jail.
