Six Killed on Ga. Highways Over Holiday Weekend

The Georgia Department of Public Safety is reporting that there were six traffic fatalities on Georgia highways this holiday weekend.

None of those traffic fatalities was in the northeast Georgia area.

This year’s Fourth of July holiday travel period started at 6 p.m. Thursday and went through midnight Sunday.

Three of the traffic fatalities were reported by the DeKalb Police Department.

The other three fatalities were reported by Georgia State Patrol posts in Villa Rica, Statesboro, and Douglas.

Meanwhile, just another reminder from the July 4th holiday weekend, the city of Toccoa will collect garbage and recyclables that were scheduled to be picked up Friday today.
