South Carolina Man Arrested in Banks Co. After Crime Spree

In Banks County, a South Carolina man is facing charges after a Monday crime spree. 

Banks County Sheriff’s office reports 34-year-old Reyes Kalifah Gibbs of Greenville allegedly drove a stolen vehicle into Homer Monday where he then broke into another car before fleeing on foot. 

The Franklin County Sheriff’s office alerted Banks County authorities to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle Gibbs was driving. 

Deputies later found the car abandoned in Homer. 

After allegedly breaking into the second car, deputies said that Gibbs ran into some woods near local schools which were put on lockdown. 

On his Facebook page, Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed said his deputies set up a perimeter and apprehended Gibbs after about an hour.

Gibbs is charged in Banks County with burglary, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine and possession of the drug, Ecstasy. 
He remains in the Banks County Detention Center.
