Special Election Voter Registration Deadline Today

Today is an important deadline regarding the March 18 special election in Stephens County.

“Today is the last day to register to vote for the special election that is coming up on March 18,” said Stephens County Registrar Theresa Kelley.  “If they are not registered by the end of today, they cannot vote in the special election.”

People can register to vote by going to the Stephens County Registrar’s Office.

The office is located downstairs in the Stephens County Government Building in downtown Toccoa.

On March 18, voters in Stephens County will cast a ballot in a race between Michelle Grafton and Ralph Stowe to fill the remainder of the unexpired term of the late Harold Andrews on the Stephens County Commission.

The winner of that special election will serve through December 31.

Early voting for the special election begins on Monday at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office and will continue Mondays through Fridays through March 14.

Kelley says people can also now request paper, mail-in absentee ballots for the special election.

Those can be obtained in person or by requesting one over the phone, said Kelley.

Paper, mail-in absentee ballots for the March 18 special election can be requested through March 14 and must be returned to the Registrar’s Office by 7 p.m. on Election Night, March 18.
