37-year old Lucas Luhr was charged early Tuesday after allegedly urinating in a public parking lot in Banks Crossing.

Luhr is a German BMW factory racing driver, currently competing for BMW and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in the GTLM category of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.

According to Banks County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Sgt. Carissa McFaddin, it happened at about 2 a.m. Tuesday at the RaceTrac on Highway 441 in Banks Crossing.

McFaddin said an off-duty deputy observed a white male urinating near the gas pumps in the RaceTrac parking lot.

She went on to say that he called an on-duty officer and when the deputy arrived, he met with Luhr.

According to McFaddin, the deputy noted that there was an overwhelming odor of alcohol coming from Luhr and that he was unable to keep his balance.

Banks County authorities said when asked if he had been drinking, Luhr replied that he had consumed approximately 5 to 6 beers.

McFaddin said Luhr also informed the deputy that he had urinated in the parking lot and proceeded to show the deputy the precise location where he had done so.

Luhr was arrested and taken to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center where he was charged with public indecency and released on a $600.00 bond.
