State Baseball Playoffs Underway

The state baseball playoffs are underway.

First round games took place this past Friday and Saturday throughout the state.

At the AAAA level, Region 8-AAAA teams split first-round series with teams from Region 7-AAAA in the best-of-three series.

Region 8 champ Buford swept Heritage of Catoosa, while Region 8 runner-up North Hall swept Pickens.

However, Region 8’s third-place team Madison County lost in two games to Northwest Whitfield and the fourth-place team from Region 8, North Oconee, was swept out of the playoffs by Region 7 champ Cartersville.

Moving to the AAA level, a regional rivalry took place in Round 1 of thee state baseball playoffs as Hart County squared off with Franklin County.

Franklin County was the Region 7-AAA champ, while Hart was the fourth seed from Region 8-AAA.

However, Hart County knocked out Franklin County in three games.

Hart County won the first game, 6-5, but Franklin County won Game Two, 1-0.

Then in the deciding third game, Hart County won 10-0.
