Stephens Co. Baseball Team to Play in Playoffs a Day Early
The Stephens County Indians Baseball team will play a day earlier than originally scheduled in the second round of the State Class AAAA Playoffs.
The Indians will travel to Locust Grove, Georgia, to face Luella High School in a best two out of three series. A doubleheader was originally scheduled for Thursday afternoon, but the Georgia High School Association has allowed schools to play a day earlier due to the forecast of impending severe weather on Thursday.
So Stephens County will now play Luella on Wednesday in a double-header with the first game beginning at 4:00 p.m. If a third game is necessary, it will be played on Friday at 4. WNEG will broadcast the games, with airtime Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 p.m.
Other Region 8 AAAA teams advancing to the second round this week are: Madison County hosting Spalding, and Oconee County at West Laurens.
In the AAA playoffs, Hart County will play at Pierce County, and North Hall at SE Bulloch; in AA, Elbert County hosting Benedictine, Rabun County at Bacon County, and Banks County hosting Toombs County all advanced.
