Stephens Co. BOE Holds Final 2016 Meeting

The Stephens County Board of Education wraps up its calendar year.

School board members met for their final scheduled meeting of 2016 on Tuesday.

At the end of the meeting, Board of Education Vice Chair David Fricks thanked outgoing Board Chair Tony Crunkleton for his service to the school system and the school board.

“I know Mr. Crunkleton is not here tonight, but I do want to thank him for his service, for his years on the board, and all he has done in helping us through some tough times,” said Fricks. “I appreciate it his service and his willingness to serve the community.”

Crunkleton served one term as the At-Large member of the Stephens County Board of Education, sitting on the board from 2013 to the end of this year.

In addition, he has served as Stephens County Board of Education Chair since the start of 2015.

Crunkleton was defeated in this year’s election by Len Stovall, who will take over the At-Large board seat in January.

In action taken at Tuesday’s Stephens County Board of Education meeting, the school board unanimously approved a Board of Education Training Plan Amendment, a request from a coach employed by the school system to do private instruction of students through a camp, and allowing Requests for Proposals to be sought regarding extra personnel benefits such as life, vision, and dental insurance.
